Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpretation Program

The program that McDonough has designed is intended to develop each student's interpretation skills and experience, by working in individual booths with the most modern simultaneous interpretation equipment available. Many university graduates and graduates of simultaneous interpretation courses seek our courses as a postgraduate study and on-the-job training.

Currently, McDonough's enrollment surpasses that of every other tertiary or academic institution because of the quality of its training program and its superior facilities, with a 200m2 office in a state-of-the-art building and with the market's latest technology.

The course is taught in our new offices in downtown Buenos Aires (235 Carabelas Street, 1st Floor) by professors and professional interpreters, combining the appropriate methodology and work experience to educate students in this demanding profession. With the help of six professionals, who currently teach courses at McDonough, we are the only company that offers students these new facilities and a system of observation and practice in the market's most recent conferences.

What makes McDonough the leading interpretation school in Argentina?

McDonough has implemented a proven uniform methodology over the last 20 years, combining the most updated material and on-the-job training with our interpreters. We are the only interpretation school in Argentina run by teachers and professional interpreters, in the best facilities used in simultaneous interpretation training, fully supported by our sound rental business recording hundreds of conferences used as student's training material.

We focused on innovation and research to implement the best practices and classroom material. We have written books such as Simultaneous Interpretation Challenges, which is currently sold by online bookstores such as Amazon.com and by the author's website www.interpretacion.com.ar. The book is being used by interpretation schools in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Our interpreters tutor students in conferences, where they can practice in silent booths, and observe interpreters in the real job environment. Classes are taught twice a week, 16 monthly hours, which gives students enough time to master their interpretation skills. Additional online practice exercises are used to reinforce classroom terminology.

McDonough records more than 300 conferences and seminars every year updating its digital audio library. All teachers are active interpreters in EN and SP. The course also includes listening comprehension and ear training of different accents. We train students in simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation and note taking. We focus on continuing education, teachers' development, and student follow up to improve our interpretation courses. This makes McDonough to be the leading interpretation school in Argentina.
